Massive blaze erupts at Islamabad’s I-9 Sunday bazaar
ISLAMABAD: A massive blaze erupted at Islamabad’s I-9 Sunday Bazaar on Wednesday, engulfing over 300 stalls and incurring huge losses to stall owners at the market.
The incident occurred at Islamabad’s open-air market, where vendors set up stalls on Sundays to sell a wide variety of goods ranging from grocery to used items.
Several fire tenders were present at the market to douse the raging flames.
Due to a shortage of fire tenders in Islamabad, help has been sought from Rawalpindi rescue teams and the Pakistan Navy to put out the blaze. So far, no casualties have been reported. Meanwhile, the Islamabad Police said that the entire area surrounding the Sunday bazaar has been cordoned off and evidence is being collected from the scene to ascertain the cause of the fire. – Special Correspondent
