KP’s Food Safety and Halal Food Authority busts fake spice factory in Kohat
An official of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority checks spices during a raid on a fake factory in Kohat on Wednesday.
PESHAWAR: Teams of the Food Safety and Halal Food Authority moved into action on a public holiday on Wednesday and busted a factory involved in making fake spices in Kohat.

According to the authority’s deputy director, Mohammad Asad Qasim, immediate action was taken after receiving information about the presence of a factory unit producing fake and adulterated spices. He said that the factory was sealed and items used in the making of fake spices were confiscated.
He said that the process of making fake spices was being carried out in very unhygienic conditions. He said that during the raid the authority’s teams also recovered a large quantity of grain husks and China salt was also recovered.

Mr Qasim said that the action against the fake factory was initiated under the Food Safety Act against the factory’s owner.
He said that apart from sealing the factory, the authority’s teams also inspected various businesses and checked cleanliness condition.
He said that a coordinated action would be taken against the mafia involved in producing adulterated food items, thereby playing havoc with the people’s health. – Bulletin Report
