KP food dept intensifies monitoring of wheat and flour distribution

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa food department has intensified activities to monitor flour and wheat distribution under the government’s quota to ensure easy and sufficient availability of the staple food across the province.

In this connection, director food Rehan Khattak along with ration controller Jamshed Khanon Monday conducted visits to different flour mills in Peshawar and inspected the record of wheat grains received by the millers and flour released to designated dealers under the government’s quota.

He issued instructions to flour millsowners to ensure regular record of flour supplied to dealers including wheat received by them under the quota.Steps would be taken to offset any shortage of the commodity in the market, he added.

“The provincial government is making stringent efforts to ensure supply of the commodity on subsidized rate to the consumers without any delay,”the food director said, adding that strict action would be taken against the elements found involved in misappropriation or embezzlement inthe wheat and flour supply quota.

Rehan Khattak further said that the overall process of flour and wheat supply to millers and the consumers would be closely monitored in order to ensure the timely availability ofthe commodity to the people at fixed rates across the province. – Bulletin Report
