Balochistan CM signs summary for dissolving provincial assembly
QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo on Saturday signed the summary for the dissolution of the provincial assembly.
The summary will now go to the Governor Balochistan for approval later today. However, if the Governor does not give his assent to the summary within the next 48 hours, the Assembly will be automatically dissolved, setting the stage for potential political maneuvering in the province.
A persistent deadlock over the nomination of the interim chief minister has also complicated the political scenario. Both the opposition and ruling parties are steadfast to push for a preferred candidate to lead the interim setup in Balochistan. The prominent names put forward so far include Mir Hamal Kalmati from the Balochistan National Party (BNP), and Usman Badini and Shabbir Mengal from the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F).
Meanwhile, within the ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), three contenders have emerged for the coveted slot. They are Kehda Babar, Ejaz Sanjrani and Naseer Bizenjo. Chief Minister Abdul Qudous Bizenjo is scheduled to engage in a final consultation with the opposition leader to reach a consensus on the appointment of the caretaker chief minister. – Our reporter and news agencies contributed to this report
