Work continues on restoration of KP’s Manda Headworks

PESHAWAR (Bulletin Report): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Irrigation Arshad Ayub Khan has said that the restoration work on Manda Headworks is ongoing on emergency basis. The completion of the restoration work will solve the problems faced by the farmers in water supply.

He directed the Chief Engineer South to review the restoration work on a daily basis and complete it within fifteen days.

He gave these instructions on the occasion of presiding over review meeting regarding the ongoing restoration work in the South Zone of the Irrigation Department. Secretary Irrigation Muhammad Ayaz, Chief Engineer South Nasir Ghafoor Khan and officials of the department attended the meeting.

In the meeting, the participants were given a detailed briefing on the restoration work in South Zone including Munda Headwork, CRBC, Warran Canal Tank.

The Provincial Irrigation Minister while issuing directives regarding the early restoration of Munda Headwork said to carryout work round the clock on Munda Headwork and complete it in fifteen days. He further directed the Chief Engineer to supervise the restoration work on daily basis. In this way, he instructed to speed up the desilting process of Warran Canal Tank and to take steps to ensure timely water supply to the farmers. Chief Engineer South Nasir Ghafoor Khan informed the meeting about the speed of the ongoing work in the South Zone, problems faced and progress so far.

Addressing the meeting, Provincial Irrigation Minister Arshad Ayub Khan said that the provincial government is taking steps to complete the restoration process in the flood-affected areas as soon as possible. Work is going on emergency basis for the restoration of Manda Headwork and Chashma Right Bank Lift Canal, which they are taking steps to complete as soon as possible. They are trying to solve the water problems of the farmers.
