KP Assembly committee to analyze all PTM jirga’s demands: CM Gandapur
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly’s parliamentary committee will analyze the 22-point communiqué of Pashtoon Jirga and the committee’s recommendations would be tabled in the house through a resolution.
Talking to media after meeting with the opposition leadership in the assembly, he said the workable points highlighted in the resolution related to the province would be implemented here, while issues related to the federation would be forwarded to the federal government for consideration.
Opposition leader Dr Ibadullah Khan said that the communiqué of the jirga was brought under discussion with the CM KP and these points would also be discussed in the house’s parliamentary committee.

During a provincial assembly session, the chief minister said that the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) jirga, held in Khyber district, forwarded a 22-point agenda, which would be thoroughly discussed in the house.
“I hereby say that all matters related to the province will not only be discussed but will also be implemented,” he told the PA session, chaired by Speaker Babar Saleem Swati.
Mr Gandapur criticised the federal government over police action against PTM activists in Jamrud, Khyber district, on Oct 10, saying the action left four people dead and 10 injured.
He lauded the house’s committee for helping ease tensions in Jamrud after the police’s action against PTM activists.
Mr Gandapur said that as a national institution, the armed forces were accountable to the government and they couldn’t carry out any military operation for peace without the government’s approval. He said peace could be ensured in a region only if authorities consulted residents.
The chief minister also called for the formation of an house committee to resolve a land dispute in Kurram district to ease tensions there.
Earlier, the opposition lauded the provincial and federal governments for “timely intervention” to resolve the controversy surrounding PTM jirga.
Opposition leader Dr Ibadullah appreciated political parties for attending the PTM Jirga and praised the PTM for keeping its commitments regarding the gathering. – By Our Reporter
