Public servants must adhere to core principles of apolitical approach and fair-play, says KP caretaker CM Muhammad Azam Khan

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s caretaker Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan has urged public servants to adhere to the core principles of right mindset, apolitical approach, fair-play and transparency while providing services to the people.
Delivering his key note address as the chief guest on the eve of graduation ceremony of the 33rd Senior Management Course held at National Institute of Management, Peshawar, on Friday, the interim chief minister said that the public servants should rise above the routine public service and deliver their services in a unique and extraordinary way for the country.
Lt- Gen (retired) Mumtaz Gul, HI (M) & TB, Secretary Administration Manzoor Ahmad, secretaries of various provincial departments, officers of district administration, Peshawar, chief instructors, faculty members and administrative officers of the three training institutions, 34 graduating officers of SMC, 20 participants of Domain Specific MCMC and 44 participants of first pre-service training of Provincial Planning Service, KP were in attendance.
The chief minister said that in-service trainings like SMC is a tremendous learning experience for public servants to sharpen their requisite skills for effective public service delivery.
He stressed the need to enhance the skills and change mindsets of our public servants to keep them aligned with the regional and international trends which are changing with rapid pace due to frequent innovations in information and communication technology.
He cited Quaid’s advice for public servants who while addressing civil servants at Chittagong advised them to maintain neutrality in their careers as the cardinal feature. He urged the public servants to remain apolitical and strike neutrality and transparency while maintaining a positive and friendly attitude towards the people.

Chief Minister Muhmmad Azam Khan also gave a grant of Rs. 50 Million to the institute and handed over cheque to Director General NIM/PARD/PPSA Capt (retired) Usman Gul on the occasion.
He congratulated all the graduating officers of the SMC and expressed profound gratitude to the NIM’s administration for contributing to the national cause of grooming the public servants for future challenges. He, later, inaugurated and laid the foundation of the construction work of the New Officers’ Mess and Information Technology Lab at NIM Complex.
Director General NIM/PARD/PPSA Capt (R) Usman Gul briefed the chief guest on the role of the three institutions and said that since inception, the academy has trained more than 28000 officers from all over the country.
He further stated that even during the last two years, more than 2000 officers from all the federating units and geographic areas of the country including a huge number of officers from KP have been trained.
The Director General paid special thanks to the Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan, Chief Secretary, KP Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, Secretary Administration Department, Manzoor Ahmad, DG PFI Khalid Ilyas, Special Secretary P & D Department KP Kamran Afridi and district administration Peshawar for their contributions for PARD/PPSA.
The Director General also expressed his gratitude for untiring efforts of the Chief Instructors, faculty members, administration and support staff of the three training institutions during the past few years.
