Charsadda’s Bacha Khan University achieves a momentous milestone by successfully organizing the three-day event at the Punjab Sports Board international swimming pool in Lahore

LAHORE: The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) lifted the trophy of the 11th All Pakistan Intervarsity Women Championship held at the International Swimming Pool, Punjab Sports Board, Lahore, from November 7 to November 10.

Mrs Ayesha Baleegh Ur Rehman, wife of the Punjab governor, awards medals and certificates to winners of the Intervarsity women swimming championship held at the Punjab Sports Board swimming pool in Lahore.

The three-day event was organized by the sports directorate of Bacha Khan University Charsadda. “It is a momentous achievement for the Bacha Khan University Charsadda in the sports history of the country by successfully holding the women swimming championship in Lahore, because of the absence of sports facilities for women in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province”, said BKU sports director Shabana Khattak.

The championship featured six different categories, including 400 meter freestyle, 200 meter breast stroke, 100 meter backstroke, 50 meter butterfly, 100 meter freestyle and 400 meter individual medley. Swimming teams of nine top universities of the country participated in the championship and displayed their sporting skills.

Participating teams are being introduced to the chief guest during the concluding ceremony.

The Lahore Garrison University (LGU) remained the runner-up, while the Punjab University, Lahore, grabbed the third position in the event.

The other universities which participated in the championship included the University of Lahore, FC College University, the Lahore College for Women University, the University of Veterinary and Animals Sciences, the Government College University and the Comsats University.

The concluding ceremony of the championship was graced by Ayesha Baleegh Ur Rehman, wife of the Punjab governor, as the chief guest on Thursday. She awarded medals and certificates to the winners. The event was formally inaugurated by former MPA Shumaila Rana, president of PTI youth wing media.
